The first thing you need to do is have the engine control module scanned for fault codes, you will need a code reader for an OBD2 engine control system, then post the fault codes here. I would also see if the engine has fuel pressure, the test port is in the pipe that supplies fuel to the injectors under the hood top of the engine.
One post of the glow plug relay should be hot all of the time. If it isn't then the wire coming off of that post (yellow I think) is going to have a fusible link at the starter relay on the passenger side fender. Check that. Check one of the wires to the glowplugs with a Voltmeter. The Timer will send several pulses to the glowplugs and then need to cool off. If the above parts are good, then check the glowplugs by removing and using battery jumper cables. Posted January 19, 2010. Glowplug light on 1.4TDCI only comes on when it is really cold, around freezing or lower, and only comes on for a few seconds so easy to miss. As for the fuse its probably in another fusebox somewhere. If the car starts alright then no need to worry!
pin 1 comes from the is the the switched ignition 15 and feeds to the switching side of the relay pin 2 goes to K4 on the pcm and is the switch earth to activate the relay. pin 3 is the main switched feed in to the glow plug relay pin 5 feed the glowplugs (when relay active) also talks back to the pcm via fuse 28 and a4 on the plug of the pcm.
